Hi everyone,

Happy New Year to you all. I hope you all had a great Christmas. The first week back at work is almost complete, the early mornings have come as a real shock to the system after a lazy Christmas break.

Have you all made your resolutions? Broken any yet? I am going to be brave and list what my (hobby) New Year’s Resolutions are going to be, I’m hoping it will spur me on:

  • Finally start painting my Space Wolf army and complete a Battle Force to start gaming with i.e. 1 x Grey Hunter Squad (10 Men), 1 x Scout Squad (5 Men), 1 x Rhino and 1 x Sky Claw Assault Squad (5 Men).
  • Start collecting my Skaven army and complete a Regiments worth to game with (to fill the time until the Warhammer Forge Chaos Dwarves miniatures are released hehe).
  • Paint up my Escher Gang for Necromunda.
  • Start collecting my SM Epic Army (Not decided on a chapter yet but probably Space Wolves).

I have made a much more promising start than usual, I have opened my box of Escher Gangers for cleaning, I have the fantastic new ‘Ikit Claw’ miniature pre-ordered. He will be a nice addition to the skaven I got in the ‘Island of Blood’ boxset from my wife, for Christmas. I’ve also pre-ordered the Skaven: Battle Magic Cards (I’m a sucker for anything hobby releated with the words ‘Limited Edition’ or ‘While Stocks Last’ hehe). Not too sure what my first purchase will be for the Epic Space Marine army, I’m leaning towards some tanks to start it all off maybe. I know Epic isn’t very popular anymore, so this is just an army to sit on my shelf as a show piece.

It would be good if you bring me up on this from time to time so I actually pull my finger out this year, feel free to pester me on here about how each of these are going.

I was browsing the Games Workshop website yesterday and was very pleased to see that they are re-releasing ‘Bjorn The Fellhanded’ miniature, available again from 22nd January. I’ll have to find some room in my Space Wolf Battleforce for that miniature, one of my all time favourites.

My grand plans for painting and sculpting practice over the Christmas holidays went out the window, but now I’m back I’ll be working on them in the evenings again, so expect more updates very soon.

I did find some time amongst all the festive mayhem to finally bring my ‘Painting Imperial Fists’ tutorial over from my old site so you can now find that in my tutorial section.

W.

I saw that metal space wolf dread up there but itsnt it better to buy a normal plastic one and use your space wolf bits box? itll be a lot cheaper, im also gonig to finish my skaven army using the new releases, 40 more clanrats and hellpit, warp lighting cannon and ikit claw and i think thats it lol o and finish painting my chaos battleion which i bought months ago and regretted it.

ps you should go on ebay see if anyone is sellnig those rare space marines in epic size.

Yeah, to be honest with the price tag it has, it will probably end up a display piece on my shelf on a nice base and make a cheaper one for gaming with. I would cry if it got damaged :) I remember having the Bjorn miniature when it was released the first time around, spending a week painting it, taking it round my friends house to show him and his little sister picking it up and dropping it on the floor, much safer as a display piece behind perspex :)

Good idea about the epic on ebay, I’ll take a look tonight and see what they’ve got on offer.

Oh yes, I think the Warp Lightning Cannon will be appearing in my Skaven army too, very nice! Sounds like you are going to have a busy 2011 like me Sam :)

Love the resolutions – lots of painting to look forward to.

My resolution is to complete 1750 points of Imperial Fists painting-complete. No gaming with this army until it’s painted this time. :P I’ve been capturing progress (or lack thereof) on our local club’s forum here: http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=104720

Beyond that – a display model – the Kairos Fateweaver model as a counts-as demon prince for my Warriors of Chaos army.

    Cya,
    Andrew.

Heh – I started that post to motivate myself – works well. One of the guys at the club hassles me if I leave posting for too long which I think is fabulous. :)

In any event – work and kids come first so … end up going slowly, but at least I feel as though I’m moving.

  8. Well i havnt got kids yet, im only 19 lol so plenty of free time but xbox keeps calling me. but going into gw plymouth tommorow to try and get a crack on.

    • Wiltrichs said on January 11th, 2011:

lol yeah I’ll have a look for them and post some shots, the person who I painted them all for sent me a group shot, I’ll ask him if he minds me putting it up for you to see too.
Elf is coming along slowly (everything always seems to take much longer to do in January for some reason lol) I should be posting some more WIP shots at the end of the week :)

  13. cool, you sold them? i would never of sold those beauties lol i have got perdo ready for white spray and putting lysander together now, just need to start painting yellow on something first, but works just called me in so no more hobby today :(

    • Wiltrichs said on January 11th, 2011:

Ah they were never mine, a friend of mine asked me to paint them for him. So they were always a commission, quite a long one too, took me over a year to do.

There were so many photos, 90 I think, that I thought it was easier (on my bandwidth too lol) to upload them to photobucket, here is the link: Imperial Fist Album

I’ve put pictures of all the Imperial Fists I’ve ever painted in there, they go back almost 5 years lol (I’ve tried to put them in a reverse chronological order so Lysander was the last IF thing I did). Hopefully they will be some inspiration Sam, I certainly enjoyed painting them. :)
