Hi all,
Apologies for it being pretty dead around here since Christmas, but family and work have been keeping me really busy so I haven’t had much free time to do hobby stuff recently. I don’t think I’ve painting anything since my entry into Golden Demon last September.
But, saying that I have found some time over the last few weeks to start practicing my sculpting again and I’m really enjoying it, I’m finding it even more relaxing than painting!
So after almost a year of this guy sitting around 1/4 finished on my shelf I’ve finally finished him. Here are some shots of my attempt at copying the Cadian Officer miniature from GW:

This is sculpted in Fimo and is 28mm Scale. I think there are quite a few things to improve on, on the next sculpt, but for my first human mini (albeit a copy of an existing mini) I’m really pleased with how it turned out.
Next, I’m going to attempt a copy of a Space Marine and Grimgor Ironhide.
Hope you like!
W.

O.O Oh my.
I have to say I like your version of it far better
Amazing Work Will! Keep it up
Thanks,
Sam
Cheers Sam!
Awesome job mate – excellent likeness to the original!
How many bakes were involved in the process? I assume you didn’t sculpt the whole thing in one go before baking?
Cheers CMDante!
I baked this about 3-4 times at different stages I think, but that was a big mistake to be honest. I found that once the mini was baked, when I came to add the fine details on top (eagle on his chest plate and shoulder details etc.) it was a real pain getting the fresh fimo to stick and because the details were so small it would have been difficult to put some greenstuff down first and then fimo on top.
For the next mini I’m going to try and cut down on the number of bakes… hopefully! I asked MIKH a while back how he does his and he said he generally tries not to bake until its finished… but he is an AWESOME sculptor so a lot more years practice before I can do that I think hehe
Cheers
